This website has one goal and that is to tell you the truth.
You will learn about The Circle Group, a company that my family founded 15 years ago and which I am very proud to be a part of. It's a company that has always prided itself on performing high-quality work at a fair price for its customers while providing a good living for more than 800 families. I think The Circle Group is a real American success story, what this country is all about.
So then why is there a need to get the truth out about our company? I've always believed - and this goes for my entire family - that it was enough to work hard, treat people fairly, and take care of your family. If you do these things and stick to your principles, then you shouldn't worry what people say about you.
Nonetheless, our company, its employees, and my family are under attack by a union, specifically, the carpenters union; i.e., Southeastern Carpenters Regional Council. The union is questioning the way we do business, the way we treat our employees, and the character of the owners of the company - my brother, Jerry Marchelletta, and my father, Jerry Marchelletta Sr.
Ordinarily, the criticisms a union might level at The Circle Group are the sort of thing we'd just let roll off our back. It's the price of doing business - if you're good at what you do, inevitably somebody is going to feel the need to take shots at you.
But the union's campaign has moved into a realm that is totally unacceptable in terms of their tactics.
When they put up their banners, we could ignore it. When they had pickets marching on the sidewalk, we could laugh about it since they actually chose to hire homeless people off of the streets to carry their signs when so many of their own members were waiting for work. (That sends a great message, doesn't it?)
But then things changed. Union officials starting questioning our good name. They harassed our friends and neighbors. They mocked my father's faith and religion and actually stole his identity. They sank even lower and set up their banners across from the daycare center where my children are enrolled.
It's no secret that my brother and my father came under question by the Internal Revenue Service, resulting in a less than favorable outcome. I love them and support them, and I'm confident that history will show that they did nothing wrong.
This is America and we're all free to speak our minds and debate the issues. But you are not free to harass our friends and our children. You are not free to lie about us.
The union has crossed a line.
And that's the reason for this website. We are going to tell you the truth and the facts about The Circle Group and its employees. We are going to tell you the truth and the facts about the carpenters union - with its long, disturbing history of corruption - and about the vicious, under-handed tactics they have stooped to against us and others.
We will lay it all out in black and white.
The irony of all this is that my father has been a member of the carpenters union for over 55 years. (Is this the way the union treats one of its members?) Both he and my brother know the valuable role unions once played in the lives of working people and, in some places, still do.
How sad that here in Atlanta the union has fallen so far.
