Right-to-Work States Lead in Job Growth

According to data from the U. S. Department of Labor, states with right-to-work laws on the books, such as Georgia, have posted consistently greater private-sector job growth than states which permit the termination of workers who refuse to pay dues or fees to a union they do not want. Between 1997 and 2007, private-sector jobs in Right to Work states increased by a net 17.7%. That's more than double the relatively small increase in private-sector jobs experienced by non-Right to Work states over this period. Read the entire article.

Workers Want a Voice, Not Necessarily a Union

The National Labor Relations Act, passed in 1935 and not significantly changed since 1947, assumes that workers and employers are adversaries -- that one gains at the expense of the other. But as a Heritage Foundation article points out, both the economy and the way businesses operate are different today. Employers today want workers involved, and workers want cooperative rather than adversarial relations with their employers. Unions don't understand this, and federal law does not sufficiently take it into account and should be changed. Read the entire article.
